Luxe Loungewear: Stylish Comfort Unleashed

Luxury Lounge Wear is here to stay!

Confession, I am into the oversized luxury lounge wear look. I am not ashamed! I gave this version a “Gucci Inspired” upgrade by adding this webbing, beautiful gold and red brocade lining for the hood and gold cording for the drawstring. I bought the oversized patches from mood and was so excited to get into this project I forgot to reinforce the patches with interfacing. So in the middle of the project the patches started to unravel and fall off “UGH”! I was able to reinforce them with fabric glue and hand sew them again but I definitely would not miss this step next time.

The best part about patterns is probably the ability to add whatever details, make a few changes here and there and VIOLA! You have a totally original piece that you can wear for decades. I gotta say this is by far my favorite make! The pattern is a simple hooded sweatshirt but when you add all the details, you can make it your own.

HERE ARE THE DEETZ!

PATTERN: Simplicity 8947, view c hooded sweatshirt with pocket pattern

DESCRIPTION: Misses' knit sweatshirt mini dresses

SEWING LEVEL: Beginner - Intermediate

SUPPLIES I USED AND WHERE TO FIND THEM: Brother sewing & Embroidery sq9185, Brother, Serger sq9185, Poly cotton sweatshirt fleece - Dark green, green/red/gold bee webbing, Embroidery patches, Hood lining, Gold cording, Gold grommets, and Flat back crystal gems

ALTERATIONS

I added the webbing, brocade lining, and embroidered patches. I added 3 inches to the bottom because i am 5’10” and i needed to feel comfortable when i sit down. I added an inch to the arm band because i have long arms. I self-drafted the puffy bishop sleeve using the slash and spread method.

PROS

Easy sew, not a lot of pattern pieces. The basic design allows for endless possibilities.

CONS

If using the embroidered patches, make sure you reinforce them with interfacing.
