Height Unveiled: The 'Wow' Factor!

5'10'...Yep, for some that's not tall at all.  However, when you are a women who is the average height of a man; you tend to get a lot of attention where ever you go.  I know some of my tall sisters can relate.

DO YOU PLAY BASKETBALL?”, “YOU SHOULD MODEL”, “YOU DON’T NEED TO WEAR THOSE HEELS, YOU ARE ALREADY TALL ENOUGH.

These are some of the "original" comments I have heard for what feels like my whole life! Most recently I walked into a meeting and a fellow male coworker walked up to me with his chest out, got in my face and said, "I thought I told you not to wear those heels anymore". I simply looked down at that poor insecure man-child and said, "Sweetie, I will never stop wearing heels. If my height prevents you from coding software you have bigger problems to worry about."  LOL

For as far back as I can remember, I was raised to despise my hair, my looks and my height. This self hate translated me into a dark place that took me years to get free from. I found myself lost in this world looking for acceptance in substance abuse, abusive men and other destructive behaviors.

It wasn't until a few years ago I truly liked what I saw in the mirror. This only came from a relationship with my creator and what His son Jesus did for me. I came across a bible verse that lit up my heart and I realized that I was wonderfully created with purpose. I am now free from those thoughts.

But don't get it twisted...

Although I am free from those thoughts that once limited me, I get tested from time to time to think negatively of my self. If you are human like me, there are always opportunities to be confronted with negative thoughts. (There is nothing like being in front of a camera to remind you of your flaws...LOL). But what you meditate on daily will prevail.  I know who I am in Christ and I no longer identify with the negative thoughts. I am accepted by Him first, everyone else after that is a bonus. Its the little things you do daily that matter when the trouble comes.

Today I can look back at my past and say, Thank you. I am who I am today because of it. Stronger, smarter, loving and compassionate. I now count it a privilege that I get the opportunity to encourage and lift up another fellow human being by reminding them who they are in Christ.

The most beautiful thing in the planet is when a person is confident in who God created them to be.

So remember you are loved by Love Himself. Be you, develop your gifts, talents that God placed on the inside of you.  Greatness lives on the inside of you!

Till next time

Stay Sewcial...Stay Inspired...

XO Sebrina
